The use of laminates is very common for countertops, construction panels, cabinetry, flooring and laminate-surfaced furniture but a single scratch, nick or stain can destroy the look and value of the item. Laminates can be damaged during:

  • Lamination
  • Cutting
  • Routing
  • Coating
  • Flip-side tasks
  • Assembly
  • Shipping
  • Handling
  • Storage
  • Installation

Surface Armor laminate protective film ensures your finished surfaces remain blemish-free and maintain maximum value. Films are available in a broad range of thicknesses, providing protection from an array of damages. Our adhesive films can be easily and securely applied, and can be just as easily removed without leaving any adhesive residue.

Different surfaces and applications require different types of protective films. Whether you are dealing with sheets of high-pressure laminate (HPL) or low-pressure laminate (LPL) furniture, we have a surface protection film to meet your needs.

The table below provides a number of protective films to consider. The headings at the top of the table identify the specific types of film by listing the combination of adhesive type, tack and material used.

Adhesive type – This is the product identification number of the adhesive used to attach the surface protection film to the laminate.

Tack – Measured in ounces per lateral inch, this defines the amount of adhesive used and the resulting “stickiness” of the laminate protective film. Because there are many variables at play, the tack level of most adhesives will be expressed as a range of values rather than a single, specific measurement.

Film/Paper – This indicates the type of plastic or paper that the film is made of.

The left side of the table lists the types of laminate surfaces to be protected
